Constitution

1.1 The organization shall be known as "Sikh Games" and may operate under the registered business name "Sikh Games Field Hockey Tournament."

1.2 The primary jurisdiction of the organization is the Greater Toronto Area, Province of Ontario, Canada.

1.3 The tournament is an annual event, traditionally held during the summer months.

2.1 To organize and promote field hockey competition within the Sikh community and broader GTA.

2.2 To foster physical fitness, sportsmanship, and community bonds through athletic competition.

2.3 To provide structured divisions that accommodate all ages, genders, and skill levels.

2.4 To reinvest all tournament proceeds into community sports development programs.

2.5 To uphold Sikh values of equality, fairness, and mutual respect in all tournament activities.

3.1 Membership is open to all field hockey clubs, teams, and individual players who meet the division eligibility criteria.

3.2 Membership categories: Full Member (registered club), Associate Member (individual player), and Honorary Member (recognized contributors).

3.3 Membership fees are set annually by the Executive Committee and approved by the General Assembly.

3.4 Membership may be suspended or revoked for violations of the Code of Conduct.

4.1 The supreme governing body is the General Assembly, comprising all Full Member clubs.

4.2 The Executive Committee manages day-to-day operations and consists of: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

4.3 Division Heads report to the Executive Committee and manage competition-specific matters.

4.4 The Disciplinary Committee is an independent body that reviews all conduct violations and disputes.

5.1 Executive Committee members are elected by the General Assembly for two-year terms.

5.2 Elections are conducted by secret ballot at the Annual General Meeting.

5.3 Any Full Member club may nominate candidates for Executive positions.

5.4 A simple majority of votes cast is required for election.

6.1 The Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held within 60 days of the tournament conclusion.

6.2 Special General Meetings may be called by the Chair or by petition of 25% of Full Members.

6.3 Quorum for the AGM is 50% of Full Member clubs.

7.1 The fiscal year runs from January 1 to December 31.

7.2 All funds are held in accounts requiring dual signatures (Treasurer + Chair).

7.3 Audited financial statements are presented at each AGM.

7.4 100% of surplus tournament revenue is reinvested into community sports programs.

8.1 The Disciplinary Committee has authority over all player, team, and spectator conduct matters.

8.2 Card offenses follow the FIH disciplinary guidelines adapted for community tournament play.

8.3 Appeals must be filed within 48 hours of the disciplinary decision.

8.4 The Disciplinary Committee's decision on appeal is final.

9.1 This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote at the AGM.

9.2 Proposed amendments must be submitted to the Secretary at least 30 days before the AGM.

9.3 All amendments take effect immediately upon adoption unless otherwise specified.

10.1 Dissolution requires a three-fourths majority vote at a Special General Meeting called for this purpose.

10.2 Upon dissolution, all remaining assets shall be distributed to registered Canadian charities with similar sports development objectives.
